  1. The most common Bitdefender issues is a conflict with Microsoft Outlook,  secured websites and online games.
  2. Here, the actual problem arises due to issues with the SSL Certificates. In other words, it happens due to unsigned certificates, server clock issues etc.

Solution

SSL Scanning Issues can be resolved by simply disabling the  “BitDefender Scan SSL Feature”.

  1. Open the Bitdefender application.
  2. Access its “Features” section.
  3. Click on “Web Protection” to open the Protection Features window.
  4. Now, click on “Settings” under the “Online Threat Prevention” section.
  5. Thereafter, click on the “Scan SSL“ toggle button to turn it off.

PC Boot failure after BitDefender Installation

Issue and Its Cause

  1. Whenever your system has any previously installed security software from Bitdefender or any third-party. Then, this Bitdefender issues may arise. Due to this previously installed security software, your system crashes and fails to “Boot Up”.

Solution

In order to resolve the issue, you must simply uninstall all traces of current or previously installed software. Then, reinstall the latest version of your Bitdefender security product. Along with that, you can use System Restore to resolve the issue.

Uninstall Older Security Software

  1.  Restart your device in the “Safe: mode.
  2. Uninstall Bitdefender from your computer.
    1. Go to “bitdefender.com/uninstall” and “download” its “Remove and Reinstall” tool.
    2. “Run” this tool with administrator rights.
    3. Finally, restart your computer
  3. Similarly, you can go to the official websites of all other security software and download their “Uninstall” tool. Then, scan “run” the tools to remove other security software.
  4. Finally, restart your computers in normal mode.
  5. Then, reinstall Bitdefender on your computer.

Use System Restore

  1.  Restart your device in the “Safe: mode.
  2. Windows users should go to Start > All Programs > System Tools > System Restore. While Mac users should press and hold the “Command Key” and “R” simultaneously.
  3. As a result, it will open the “System Restore” and “Recovery” tools respectively on Windows and Mac devices.
  4. Here, Windows users should select “Restore My Computer To An Earlier Time”. Then, click “Next”.
  5. Similarly, Mac users should select “Restore From Time Machine Backup”. In the case of multiple “Backups”, it will prompt you to make an appropriate choice. Hence, choose the “Backup” version that is closest to the date when this issue arose.
  6. Thereafter, restart your device in normal mode.
  7. Then, reinstall your Bitdefender software on your system.

Unable to Start Bitdefender Scan

Issue and Its Cause

  1. Faulty installation or remnants of older security software.
  2. Conflict with other security tools like Windows Defender.

Solution

  1. Completely uninstall older security software using dedicated “Uninstall” tool.
  2. Disable the conflicting security tool. For this, access its “Settings” and “Turn It Off”.

BitDefender Blocks File Creation and Modification

Issue and Its Cause

  1. BitDefender’s security features can restrict certain games or software from creating and modifying files on your system. This happens due to pre-existing patterns to protect your device from malware infections. 

Solution

In this situation, you should grant permission to restricted games or software by overriding BitDefender’s security feature.

  1. Launch the Bitdefender application.
  2. Go to the Notification screen.
  3. Here, you should look for “Application Access Blocked” option. 
  4. Now, click on “View Application” to get a list of all the applications/ software.
  5. Then, look for the specific application that is facing this issue. It should be marked as “Blocked”. Hence, click the slider beside it to “Allowed”.
  6. Then, close the Bitdefender window.

BitDefender Firewall Activation Fails

Issue and Its Cause

  1. It happens when an important element like “Base Filtering Engine” is missing from the Windows service.

Solution

  1. Right-click on “Computer/This PC” from “File Explorer”.
  2. Select “Manage”.
  3. Open “Services and Applications” followed by “Services”.
  4. Now, locate “Base Filtering Engine”. Then, double-click on it to open it.
  5. Next, you should check its “Status”. It should state the “Startup Type” as “Automatic”, and the “Service Status” as “Running”.
  6. If these parameters are not correct, make the required changes. Then, click “Start”.
  7. Subsequently, restart Windows.
  8. Thereafter, if the issue persists. Then, “Fix the Permissions for BFE”.
  9. Press “Windows + R”.
  10. Then, type in “regedit” in the “Run” box.
  11. In the “Registry Editor”, locate “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\BFE\”.
  12. Right-click on “BFE Key” and view its “Permissions”.
  13. Now, click “Add” and enter “Everyone”.
  14. Then, click “OK”.
  15. Thereafter, check the “Everyone List”. Make sure that “Allow Full Control” is selected.
  16. Finally, click “OK” and restart Windows.
